Why Linus Torvalds has become genius...?

 

 

 

At the beginning, we have to ask ourselfs who exactly is Linus Torvalds ? Well, we could say he is just a random guy from Scandinavia, where something interesting occurred to him – that he does not want to be a slave of Bill Gates and his creation from Redmond. Maybe it wasn't exactly like that, but in time, it seems that he doesn't spare commercial gigants from rough comments.

 

Creation of Linux began with the need for stable kernel of UNIX system, which concluded with complete unexpected results – full support of worldwide community, has become a fact. Creating something for his own needs, he created need for the same among other people all over and they want to contribute to this project. This is how open source was created, which is free software. Thing which Linus has started back in the nineties, now is fully developed project which is supported by milions of people around the world, they support not only Linux as operating system [number of distributions go in hundreds], but entire software as well, like graphics editors, word editors, spread sheets and others.

 

Why this invention was so crucial ? Because many people have different opinions about every subjects, thus evolving might go in every direction. It's completely different way of solving problem than big corporations have. They have clear path of evolution for every project, where in open source projects evolution is limitless. It is not bound by anything, well maybe only by time, but so do others. Of course, results cannot be foreseen, but on the other hand, future is not the category of human knowledge.

 

Another aspect of entire thing is, Linux is one of the latest results of sharing knowledge, which was so common centuries ago. Poeple shared their knowledge back then, having no idea whatsoever where it's going to lead them, and they make their mark in human history.
