Carpatia Divide - Day 1

Ustroń - Raztoki ~ 65km

Report from the first day – in short – total hardcore. First day was extra demanding technically wise and conditionally as well. At the first downhill from Czantoria I ve lost spare tube, Tomo got snake bite and it became more apparent, that new setting new chain wasn't such a good idea afterall. We've paid a huge penalty in time, therefore we couldn't keep up with top of the race. One way or the other, we've managed to get to resting place with around 65km behing us. Way below our expectations, be we are alive and well, so that's a start. We've found out, that we are wxhausted more psychologically than phisically, and that was a surprise. We decided to stay in the valley before Wielka Racza, but some of the people decided to push it. We got some little surprises (bee sting in the forehead or cutting the knee, but nothing too major). Track is extremely technical, but we manage to continue, and so our bikes. On the side note, weather was great, which seems rarely to happen in the mountains.
